Peanut's First Bedtime Story from Grandpa

My Aunt and Uncle surprised me with a copy of the book, "Go the F*k to Sleep" on Xmas Eve.

It's a hilarious book and I wish I would have thought of it!

Here is a video of my Dad reading it to my family on Xmas Eve to prepare us for Peanut being Naughty:

WARNING this video contains FILTHY LANGUAGE not suitable for small kiddies and if you're easily offended...

Week 35 Update: Third Trimester Blues

We saw the Doc this week and everything was good. My blood pressure was normal and now every week they hook me up to the fetal monitor for a "Stress Test" and monitor Peanut's movements and heart rate.

Peanut was bouncing around a lot this week and his (or her) heart rate was good.

Third Trimester Blues:

I told my Doc that I'm still getting some morning headaches and have been waking up feeling a bit queasy and am getting VERY easily winded and tired all the time.

Example, when I'm doing my hair and makeup in the morning I need to sit for breaks=lame.

My Doc ordered some blood work on me because of this and thankfully everything came back normal which was great.

So that is probably just some third trimester roughness. :(

I've also been sleeping pretty terribly.

Between getting up to go to the bathroom once an hour, to weird dreams (Tuesday night was a nightmare about Steve being swallowed by a giant Super-Mario fish, "Big Bertha") or other stress or anxieties keeping me awake, I'm exhausted all the time.

FYI Steven, please steer clear of this EVIL EVIL fish. lol

Last night we had our Lamaze class at Fairview Hospital and watched a video about bringing the baby home for the first time and how I am going to have to care for myself  and recover after labor.

I gotta say it was a bit overwhelming..

There is a lot more about recovering on my end then I thought and I wasn't really aware of that there is a TON of stuff we have to check for in the first 24 hours and weeks to make sure Peanut is doing well.

I guess I'm afraid about being able to keep track of it all.

BUT...

Everyone is telling me that my Mommy instincts will take over and not to worry to much about the giant list of stuff we were given last night to check for. I'm trying to heed that advice.

I'm lucky that we have so many people around us to give some newborn advice and help get us through that super crazy time.

My Mom has promised to make me her famous spaghetti and meatballs as I will apparently not have much time to cook. I think I am going to spend the weekend after Christmas cooking some meals and freezing them to help prepare.

On the plus side (and cause I'm sick of sounding like "Emo Krista" in today's blog post):

Peanut's been kicking up a storm and is very active in my tummy, which is great. :)

We have our hospital bags ready to go, the car seat installed and Peanut's room all ready.

Here is a picture of Peanut's coming home outfit which is ADORE-A-BLE!

Our little Bunny!

We wanted something unique and special to bring our Peanut home in and I'm a bit obsessed with Bunnies By the Bay stuff.

It is super soft and soooooo darn cute!

About 4 weeks left to go! Unless Peanut decides to make an early appearance! :)

34 Week Ultrasound & "Peanut's Dress Rehearsal"

Peanut's 34 Week Ultrasound:

Yesterday we had our 34 week Ultrasound.

The Doc said Peanut looks great weighing in at 4lbs 12 oz which is nice and normal for 34 weeks. :)

Here are some pictures:

The Doctor also said he can see that Peanut has lots of hair! Probably getting that from his (or her) fuzzy Daddy Steve. :)

The Ultrasound Doc also tried to tempt us into discovering whether or not Peanut is a boy or a girl...but Steve and I stayed strong. We still don't know...and this could be the last ultra-sound so I hope everyone that bet against us being able to wait is ready to pay up! :)

You's gonna lose....

"Peanut's Dress Rehearsal" or "The Scary Hospital Adventure":

We had an very eventful weekend that I'd like now to refer to as "Peanut's Dress Rehearsal" because we spent 28 hours in the hospital I'll deliver at surrounded by all our family (and friends via Facetime):

Last week I was having lots of headaches so I called my Doctor and she said I needed to come in ASAP so they could check my blood pressure and monitor Peanut. My blood pressure was high and they couldn't get a great read on Peanut's activity so I was sent to the hospital for further testing where they have more efficient fetal monitoring equipment.

The nurses got a great read on Peanut said how much they LOVED our baby because Peanut was super active on the fetal monitors, but my blood pressure continued to climb so they decided to admit me to the hospital for additional testing.

This news scared me lots and the fear made my blood pressure sky rocket, so the nurses had to give me IV blood pressure medication and steroid shots to help Peanut's lungs develop (in case my condition turned out to be preeclampsia or toxemia which would have meant bed rest and possibly delivering Peanut early).

The Doctor then put me on daily blood pressure medication and it came down enough that they let me go home Saturday night. However, I was still super worried as I didn't have the final test results showing that I didn't have preeclampsia or toxemia and had to stay home from work until we had the results and talked to our Doctor.

My Doc called me Monday morning and gave me the great news that it wasn't preeclampsia or toxemia but that I had hypertension (or pregnancy-induced high blood pressure). Apparently it is very common for first time Moms to develop this late in pregnancy. I could go back to work and resume most of my activities but I have to take my medication and TAKE IT EASY! It also means that my Doc will not let me go past 39 or 40 weeks so if Peanut does not come before then, I will be induced. :(

My sister made a good point, she said it was Peanut's way of saying: "Hey Mom! You need to SLOW DOWN DAMMIT!"

So now, I'm trying to finish up our last preparations for getting ready for Peanut because then I'll be able to relax more and feel more confident about welcoming our little precious Peanut in a state of calmness and relaxation.

Steve and I are so lucky that Peanut and I are doing well.

We are also SUPER blessed by all the people we have in our lives that reached out to us and sent love and prayers our way over the past weekend.

Peanut will never feel lonely or un-loved EVER!

There are WAY too many people that are so amazing to us! And we really appreciate EVERY single one of you!

We love you all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A.

FREAKIN.

LOT!

Your Royal Highness, Peanut

If you haven't heard the news yet (In which in that case which rock have you been snoozing under? And can I get in on that? Sleep's been hard to come by lately!)...............

Wills and Kate are going to have their very own Peanut!!!

Why is this such a big deal to me?

1. Well for one thing that little Royal Pants will be born in 2013 and be exactly Peanut's age!!!

Um sorry but, Peanut could TOTALLY fall in love with the future King or Queen and I could TOTALLY be a Royal Mother-In-Law!

I wonder if I would be granted a title? Lady Krista of the Cadbury Candy Bars...

I'd have to get my hands on some corgi's and big floppy hats to fit in...

WHAT?!

It could happen!

I guess Steve and I better start saving NOW for an Oxford or Cambridge education so we can make this betrothal happen! ;)

2. For those of you who know me well you know that I'm OBSESSED with anything British.

Don't get me wrong, I love America and think it's the best country in the world, but those Brits have a special place in my heart and I love them lots-particularly when I hear things like how much Americans are obsessed with um...Honey Boo Booo..and Gangnum Style..

Yeah..

Yay UK!!!

I love the history and read biographies on Elizabeth I and Henry VII and Queen Victoria, The Beatles, Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, The Chronicles of Narnia, Bridget Jones, "Ab Fab", Jane Austen, Adele, Kate Nash, Cadbury's Candy Bars (especially the ones you can't get here in the US!) ETC.........!!!!!!!!!!

I was thrilled about the 2012 London Olympics and actually watched the ENTIRE opening and closing ceremonies! Which I've never done before...only for my England.

I  visited my good friend Roopa in England when I was 16, fell in love and can't wait to return.

Here we are so young and carefree!

(And freakin skinny!!)

Congratulations Dear Kate and William! Good luck with your little bundle of Royal Joy!

And know that I'll be happy to sign a betrothal contract as soon as possible!!!!

First Lamaze Class

Last week, Steve and I had our very First Lamaze Class!

The most ironic and hilarious thing was that our instructor was a lady that was in Girl Scouts with me for 7 years when we were kids.

When we walked up to her to check in I was like:

"Wow. Oh Hey Michelle... How you've been for the last 16 years since I've seen you? Good. That's coolio.  Last time I saw you we were rocking out to Seal's "Kiss From a Rose" and riding a bus to school! So I get to ask you all about labor and my undercarriage now... that will be completely un-awkward right? ...NOT!"

LOL

The first class was mostly an intro to the labor process and stuff I already knew and the Moms and Dads "To-Be" airing their "pregnancy grievances."

Mom's   Did/Does Krista Have that?
Leg Cramps Yes
Headaches Yes
Morning Sickness Yes
Weird Nightmares Yes
Braxton Hicks Contractions Yes
Fatigue Yes
Frequent Bathroom Trips At Night FREAKIN YES! About once an hour now Boo!

Dad's   Did/Does Krista Have that?
Violent Mood Swings Nope. Never. No matter what Steve says… ;)
Increased Appetite "What do you mean you only brought me home one cheeseburger?"
Hogs the bed "Just because you are freezing, blanket-less and have only 2 inches of space doesn't mean I'm "hogging" the bed. "
Weird Nightmares Yes!

LOL

Speaking of stuff I knew...I knew that Peanut had to fit through a relatively small area, but I gotta say when Michelle demonstrated it with a baby doll and model pelvis ...all I thought was "Awwww crap that's so freakin small!!!!!!!"

And immediately asked Steve if he could be the one to labor Peanut instead.

Wouldn't that be more of a FAIR trade? If us Ladies carried the babies for 9 whole months and the Daddy's pushed the babies out at the end instead?

Much more fair Nature.

Alas, even though Senior Esteban (Steve) is unable to birth Peanut, he has been extremely helpful lately and I love him lots!

He now has new and exciting jobs like helping me put on my socks as I look like this....

"Changing the 5 second rule to 5-10 minutes...."

Excited to see what the rest of the 5 weeks of Lamaze classes bring.

Especially since I haven't gotten a chance to really make some good "in-class" jokes yet.

One of the Dads actually was a shade faster than me and said "Grab your balls" when we all sat on the birthing balls to practice breathing.

I had that joke in my backpocket dangit!

"But did you know that when it snows
My eyes become large and the light that you shine can be seen
BABY!!
I compare you to a kiss from a rose on a gray"

BTW what the CRAP do those lyrics mean Seal? And do you regret that wind machine? ;) LOL

What the?

 The freakin Baby Mop!

Yes this is a REAL thing.

Because, why wouldn't you want to use your precious child to clean the floor?

I mean they are KIND OF wasting time down there just sliding around right?

Why not clean the floor while they're at it?

Even your 6 month old needs to earn his keep right?

The worst thing about this is that people are actually buying it!!

FYI this is why Europe laughs at us.

A lot.

From the website, betterthanpants.com (great site name btw....not!) where you can buy it:

Top 5 reasons you NEED a baby mop:

  1. Teach your baby a strong work ethic early on in their life.
  2. Your baby will learn not to drop and waste food.
  3. Baby will get a nice workout, burn off energy, and do muscle toning. And sleep better too!
  4. Not having to clean your floors saves you time so you can spend it doing things you enjoy.
  5. Save lots of money on house cleaning costs.
Look how happy the baby is to be helping with chores!

Krista's T-Rex Arms

You know that phrase "I've fallen and I can't get up?"

Oh you know it.

All of us 90's kids quoted it repeatedly in Steve Urkel's voice...for... years.

I never thought it would happen to me for realzees....

I was enjoying a relaxing time in the tub reading my Rolling Stone and rewarding myself for heading to the gym (going about once a trimester...but who's counting...lol) and when it was time to get out of the bathtub....

I found I couldn't....

Because my arms suddenly became about as effective as a T-Rex's:

Teeny tiny and couldn't support the weight of my huge expanding belly.

Thank God for Steve and his ability to act as a "Future Father/Forklift" at the same time.

Note to self: will be avoiding the bathtub from now until Peanut arrival and especially if my "Rescuer" Steven isn't home....

I'm just saying "No" to bubbles... :(

Best Pregnancy Voicemail Ever

Time: 12:05am

Place: Our house. Steve and I are fast asleep.

We receive the following "drunk dial" voicemail. Hilarious-ness ensues....

Thing 1: Hey d*ckhead

Thing 2: Hey a**hole

Thing 1: You're not a d*ckhead I didn't mean that. Ooh I love you.

Thing 2: We're calling you because we were trying to figure out if you want to talk to us.
Apparently not. Because you're a Baby Mama so you're probably sleeping.

Thing 1: You're growing a child so we get it.

Thing 2: Yeah we get it you're harvesting a kiddo. Well wait you're not harvesting because that would mean...hey there's something on your face!

Thing 1: Ok we love you.

Thing 2: We hope you have a good night we love you we miss you.We hope that in approximately 60 days you push out a fabulous kiddo.

Thing 1: You will. For sure. We hope for a speedy push.

Thing 2: You're gonna need a lot of drugs. You're taint's probably going to rip. They going to have to sew your Va-jane-a.

Thing 1: No they don't.

Thing 2: When they tear what it tears what they are sewing? (yes that is what was said. No typo..lol)

Thing 1: It's not your Va-jane-a it's your taint.

Thing 2: What if she tears in the front like Kimbra did?

Thing 1: Ew that's unfortunate. OK love you.

Thing 2: We hope that doesn't happen to you because Kimbra has a very funky...sewage situation
Actually Kimbra looks just like you! You guys would get along great!

Thing 1: Oh My God the cops are here! Gotta go!

Thing 2: The 5-0!

As you can see I had to protect the identities of my inebriated friends and referred to them as Thing 1 and Thing 2.

BTW...the "cops" was actually a pizza guy...LMAO.
