Juliet's 1st Birthday Party

 

We decided to do a mermaid themed party. Steve & I love ourselves some Little Mermaid and we thought JP would get a kick out of the oceanic decor.

We wanted to do something unique with the food, so we did a White Cheddar Mac & Cheese Bar. Grandma Beyer & I made a massive batch of Mac & Cheese, then, Steve and I made several yummy toppings so each guest could customize their own Mac & Cheese bowl. It was SOOO GOOD but TONS of work! Let's just say I won't be taking on any catering jobs anytime soon! :) Special shout out to Irene Dever's at the West Side Market! You really hooked a Sista up with 7lbs of AH-MAZE-ING delicious cheese!

 

We also had lots of help from the following awesome peeps:

 

Samantha Sprague: She made the gorgeous cupcakes and absolutely beautiful ombre smash cake.  "Hey Sam....I LOVE YOU MORE THAN CAKE!!!!!!"

Kristin Wimsatt (The Crafty Giant): Kristin as usual took some beautiful pictures for us below! You da bomb girl!!

 

Aunt Cindy & Cousin Emily: Aunt Cindy helped me with all of the decorations (we made EVERYTHING by hand including the cutesty little mermaids) and she and Emily made the SUPER CUTE starfish, flounder & dolphin sugar cookies.

 

My sister Brittney: She made a beautiful salad with fresh greens, pomegranate seeds, almonds and feta! Plus she helped with setup, cleanup, moral support, back rubs. high fives, & post-party "recovery" bottles of wine. ;)

Grandma Beyer: She helped me make all the yummy Mac & Cheese, helped with Setup & Cleanup and additional moral support.

Mom & Dad: My parents hosted the party at their home!!! Thanks so much for letting us crash your lovely house and all the help with EVERYTHING!


Soo many of our wonderful family and friends came to celebrate with us and we couldn't feel more blessed. Juliet has soo many people in her life that love her and showered her with so many awesome gifts we aren't sure where to put them all!

We are so LUCKY!!

The party went very very well! And most importantly, Juliet had a fantastic time! I think my favorite moment was when she was given her smash cake. Usually, our little girl is a Chow Monkey and devours anything in sight, but I think the excitement of the party through her a bit off. She wasn't quite sure what to do with an entire cake, which was pretty hilarious. But, her cousins stepped in and made sure she got several spoonfuls. :)

Happy Holidays JP & 11 months

With the Craziness of the Holidays, once again I'm going to jam a ton of stuff into one post....

What's new with JP:

 

In December, she got her first freckle on her back. JP & I named her freckle Agnes.

If you are wondering why we are naming a freckle...watch the movie Beaches (WARNING: BEFORE WATCHING grab an economy sized box of tissues).

 

JP has 2 teeth! In the teeth department, she's a bit on the slow side with only 2 teeth at 11 months. We are hoping the rest of them come in super quickly ASAP. Teething is not our idea of a party.

 

JP has started to shake her head "No" at us. This is AMAZING for a new parent!!! Our child is starting to communicate with us!!! Hooray! Except that sometimes when we say "No", she shakes her head, but um doesn't listen... Poor forbidden Grandpa's TV speakers! JP is SUPER in love with you...and continues on her quest to try to conquer you.

 

JP has been walking for awhile now, but now has progressed onto power walking and/or almost sprinting.

 

She's added several new words to her vocabulary: Nana, Hot, Cheese & Burp (hahahaa). Obviously, she LOVES all of these things....also amazing.

Sshhh the secret to getting JP to sit still is by playing the Elmo Song on You Tube.

 Speaking of XMAS......

 

Xmas was wonderful!!! We spent Xmas Eve with my family and Xmas Day with Steve's. We had a great time with both families and we feel so blessed to be surrounded with so much love and laughter. :) AWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW

Turkey Day

JP's first Thanksgiving was AWESOME!

Except for the fact that she didn't sleep much AT ALL the night before....
I think she was a little confused spending the night with us at Nana & Grandpa's house. 
Steve and I needed A LOT of caffeine on Thanksgiving...

 

BUT..

 

It was great fun visiting with everyone especially my brother Jon (Uncle Schmoo) who was home for the holiday (he lives in Charlotte ).

10 MONTHS!!

JP turned 10 months this week!!

OMG I cannot believe that she is only 2 months away from her first birthday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My little baby is growing up soo freakin fast! Sniff Sniff......

JP Updates:

Her first tooth came in officially on November 7th!! After months of teething we finally saw evidence of JP's first chomper. However one down....lots more to go! Crap.

JP waives "Hello" and "Bye-Bye" now.

JP hugs whatever she is holding when you say for example, "Juliet, do you love-y the lamb?" or "Juliet do you love-y Mommy?"

JP was a cutesy Lady Bug for Halloween. But, she was pretty miserable the entire night. Teething like terrible and was super depressed she couldn't Trick or Treat because the weather was horrendous!

JP LOVES to play Peek-A-Boo! Here's a cute video of her doing it crawling. It is also fun with a blankie (she hides behind).

JP started walking at 8 months, so of course all she wants to do is walk, climb or crawl around. She HATES sitting still for pictures
