Peanut's First Bedtime Story from Grandpa

My Aunt and Uncle surprised me with a copy of the book, "Go the F*k to Sleep" on Xmas Eve.

It's a hilarious book and I wish I would have thought of it!

Here is a video of my Dad reading it to my family on Xmas Eve to prepare us for Peanut being Naughty:

WARNING this video contains FILTHY LANGUAGE not suitable for small kiddies and if you're easily offended...

Week 35 Update: Third Trimester Blues

We saw the Doc this week and everything was good. My blood pressure was normal and now every week they hook me up to the fetal monitor for a "Stress Test" and monitor Peanut's movements and heart rate.

Peanut was bouncing around a lot this week and his (or her) heart rate was good.

Third Trimester Blues:

I told my Doc that I'm still getting some morning headaches and have been waking up feeling a bit queasy and am getting VERY easily winded and tired all the time.

Example, when I'm doing my hair and makeup in the morning I need to sit for breaks=lame.

My Doc ordered some blood work on me because of this and thankfully everything came back normal which was great.

So that is probably just some third trimester roughness. :(

I've also been sleeping pretty terribly.

Between getting up to go to the bathroom once an hour, to weird dreams (Tuesday night was a nightmare about Steve being swallowed by a giant Super-Mario fish, "Big Bertha") or other stress or anxieties keeping me awake, I'm exhausted all the time.

FYI Steven, please steer clear of this EVIL EVIL fish. lol

Last night we had our Lamaze class at Fairview Hospital and watched a video about bringing the baby home for the first time and how I am going to have to care for myself  and recover after labor.

I gotta say it was a bit overwhelming..

There is a lot more about recovering on my end then I thought and I wasn't really aware of that there is a TON of stuff we have to check for in the first 24 hours and weeks to make sure Peanut is doing well.

I guess I'm afraid about being able to keep track of it all.

BUT...

Everyone is telling me that my Mommy instincts will take over and not to worry to much about the giant list of stuff we were given last night to check for. I'm trying to heed that advice.

I'm lucky that we have so many people around us to give some newborn advice and help get us through that super crazy time.

My Mom has promised to make me her famous spaghetti and meatballs as I will apparently not have much time to cook. I think I am going to spend the weekend after Christmas cooking some meals and freezing them to help prepare.

On the plus side (and cause I'm sick of sounding like "Emo Krista" in today's blog post):

Peanut's been kicking up a storm and is very active in my tummy, which is great. :)

We have our hospital bags ready to go, the car seat installed and Peanut's room all ready.

Here is a picture of Peanut's coming home outfit which is ADORE-A-BLE!

Our little Bunny!

We wanted something unique and special to bring our Peanut home in and I'm a bit obsessed with Bunnies By the Bay stuff.

It is super soft and soooooo darn cute!

About 4 weeks left to go! Unless Peanut decides to make an early appearance! :)

34 Week Ultrasound & "Peanut's Dress Rehearsal"

Peanut's 34 Week Ultrasound:

Yesterday we had our 34 week Ultrasound.

The Doc said Peanut looks great weighing in at 4lbs 12 oz which is nice and normal for 34 weeks. :)

Here are some pictures:

The Doctor also said he can see that Peanut has lots of hair! Probably getting that from his (or her) fuzzy Daddy Steve. :)

The Ultrasound Doc also tried to tempt us into discovering whether or not Peanut is a boy or a girl...but Steve and I stayed strong. We still don't know...and this could be the last ultra-sound so I hope everyone that bet against us being able to wait is ready to pay up! :)

You's gonna lose....

"Peanut's Dress Rehearsal" or "The Scary Hospital Adventure":

We had an very eventful weekend that I'd like now to refer to as "Peanut's Dress Rehearsal" because we spent 28 hours in the hospital I'll deliver at surrounded by all our family (and friends via Facetime):

Last week I was having lots of headaches so I called my Doctor and she said I needed to come in ASAP so they could check my blood pressure and monitor Peanut. My blood pressure was high and they couldn't get a great read on Peanut's activity so I was sent to the hospital for further testing where they have more efficient fetal monitoring equipment.

The nurses got a great read on Peanut said how much they LOVED our baby because Peanut was super active on the fetal monitors, but my blood pressure continued to climb so they decided to admit me to the hospital for additional testing.

This news scared me lots and the fear made my blood pressure sky rocket, so the nurses had to give me IV blood pressure medication and steroid shots to help Peanut's lungs develop (in case my condition turned out to be preeclampsia or toxemia which would have meant bed rest and possibly delivering Peanut early).

The Doctor then put me on daily blood pressure medication and it came down enough that they let me go home Saturday night. However, I was still super worried as I didn't have the final test results showing that I didn't have preeclampsia or toxemia and had to stay home from work until we had the results and talked to our Doctor.

My Doc called me Monday morning and gave me the great news that it wasn't preeclampsia or toxemia but that I had hypertension (or pregnancy-induced high blood pressure). Apparently it is very common for first time Moms to develop this late in pregnancy. I could go back to work and resume most of my activities but I have to take my medication and TAKE IT EASY! It also means that my Doc will not let me go past 39 or 40 weeks so if Peanut does not come before then, I will be induced. :(

My sister made a good point, she said it was Peanut's way of saying: "Hey Mom! You need to SLOW DOWN DAMMIT!"

So now, I'm trying to finish up our last preparations for getting ready for Peanut because then I'll be able to relax more and feel more confident about welcoming our little precious Peanut in a state of calmness and relaxation.

Steve and I are so lucky that Peanut and I are doing well.

We are also SUPER blessed by all the people we have in our lives that reached out to us and sent love and prayers our way over the past weekend.

Peanut will never feel lonely or un-loved EVER!

There are WAY too many people that are so amazing to us! And we really appreciate EVERY single one of you!

We love you all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

FREAKIN.

LOT!

Your Royal Highness, Peanut

If you haven't heard the news yet (In which in that case which rock have you been snoozing under? And can I get in on that? Sleep's been hard to come by lately!)...............

Wills and Kate are going to have their very own Peanut!!!

Why is this such a big deal to me?

1. Well for one thing that little Royal Pants will be born in 2013 and be exactly Peanut's age!!!

Um sorry but, Peanut could TOTALLY fall in love with the future King or Queen and I could TOTALLY be a Royal Mother-In-Law!

I wonder if I would be granted a title? Lady Krista of the Cadbury Candy Bars...

I'd have to get my hands on some corgi's and big floppy hats to fit in...

WHAT?!

It could happen!

I guess Steve and I better start saving NOW for an Oxford or Cambridge education so we can make this betrothal happen! ;)

2. For those of you who know me well you know that I'm OBSESSED with anything British.

Don't get me wrong, I love America and think it's the best country in the world, but those Brits have a special place in my heart and I love them lots-particularly when I hear things like how much Americans are obsessed with um...Honey Boo Booo..and Gangnum Style..

Yeah..

Yay UK!!!

I love the history and read biographies on Elizabeth I and Henry VII and Queen Victoria, The Beatles, Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, The Chronicles of Narnia, Bridget Jones, "Ab Fab", Jane Austen, Adele, Kate Nash, Cadbury's Candy Bars (especially the ones you can't get here in the US!) ETC.........!!!!!!!!!!

I was thrilled about the 2012 London Olympics and actually watched the ENTIRE opening and closing ceremonies! Which I've never done before...only for my England.

I  visited my good friend Roopa in England when I was 16, fell in love and can't wait to return.

Here we are so young and carefree!

(And freakin skinny!!)

Congratulations Dear Kate and William! Good luck with your little bundle of Royal Joy!

And know that I'll be happy to sign a betrothal contract as soon as possible!!!!
